- Synthetic Anticholinergic, carboxylic acid derivative
- Selective Acetylcholine blockade of Muscarinic Receptors on Smooth Muscles
- Results in Smooth Muscle relaxation and antispasmodic activity
- Effects
- Relaxes gastrointestinal Smooth Muscle and decreases spasm
- Inhibits gastrointestinal motility
- Decreases gastric acid secretion
- Decreases Saliva and brochial secretions
IV. Dosing: Adult
- Start 20 mg orally four times daily as needed
- Increase to 40 mg orally four times daily as needed
- Typical effective dose (160 mg/day)
