  1. Avoid in infants under age 1 year old
  2. Major risk factor for ALTE and SIDS (see complications below)

  1. Total of 515 deaths/8 years under age 2 in adult beds
  2. Suffocation by rolling over child: 25% of deaths
  3. Entrapment/suffocation by bed structure: 75% of deaths
