- Assess degree of Fetal Hypoxia
III. Technique
- Stimulate infant with one of two techniques
- Fetal Scalp Stimulation
- Fetal Acoustic Stimulation
- Observe Fetal Heart Rate response to stimulation
IV. Interpretation: Positive Scalp stimulation response
- Fetal Heart Rate increases 15 beats for 15 seconds
- Positive Response implies no acidosis (pH > 7.20)
