II. Indications

  1. Assess Adults with Atrial Fibrillation for risk of bleeding while on Anticoagulation

III. Criteria

  1. Score 1: Age >74 years old
  2. Score 1: Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) <60 ml/min/1.73m2
  3. Score 1: Antiplatelet use
  4. Score 2: Major bleeding history (e.g. Gastrointestinal Bleeding or Intracranial Bleeding)
  5. Score 2: Low Hemoglobin
    1. Female <12 g/dl or Hematocrit <36%
    2. Male <13 g/dl or Hematocrit <40%

IV. Interpretation

  1. Total Score 0 to 2: Low Risk (2.4 bleeding events per 100 patient years)
  2. Total Score 3: Moderate Risk (4.7 bleeding events per 100 patient years)
  3. Total Score >=4: High Risk (8.1 bleeding events per 100 patient years)
