III. Technique

  1. Patient occludes opposite ear with one hand
  2. Patient stands with back to examiner or covers eyes (prevents lip reading)
  3. Examiner whispers questions or commands
    1. Five or more feet from patients ear
    2. Avoid Yes or No questions
  4. Patient answers or follows commands
  5. Avoid testing with finger snapping or ticking watch
    1. Not accurate for Hearing Testing

IV. Interpretation

  1. Abnormal results should be tested with Audiogram
