II. Indications

  1. Superficial dermatophyte infections (e.g. Tinea Pedis, Tinea Cruris, Tinea Corporis and Tinea Versicolor)

III. Mechanism

  1. Imidazole Antifungal
  2. As with other azoles, inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol (key component of fungal cell wall)
    1. Blocks sterol 14-a-dimethylase (microsomal Cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme)

IV. Medications

  1. Cream: 1%
  2. Lotion: 1%

V. Dosing: Superficial dermatophyte infections (e.g. Tinea Pedis, Tinea Cruris, Tinea Corporis and Tinea Versicolor)

  1. Apply once to twice daily (once daily in Tinea Versicolor)

VI. Safety

  1. Pregnancy Category B
  2. Unknown safety in Lactation
