III. Mechanism

  2. Non-sulfhydryl Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor
  3. Perindopril is a prodrug, converted to its active form Perindoprilat via hydrolysis

IV. Dosing

  1. Adequate 24 hour Blood Pressure control may require twice daily dosing
  2. Hypertension
    1. Start 4 mg orally daily or divided twice daily
      1. Start at 2 mg/day in renal dysfunction or concurrent Diuretic use
    2. Target 4 to 8 mg/day
  3. Coronary Artery Disease secondary prevention
    1. Start 4 mg orally daily for 2 weeks
    2. May increase after 2 weeks to 8 mg/day
  4. Congestive Heart Failure (not FDA approved)
    1. Start 2 mg orally daily
    2. Maximum 16 mg/day
  5. Maximum 16 mg/day

  1. Available as generic unscored tablets (2, 4, 8 mg)
