IV. Dosing: Adults
- Background
- Bumetanide 1 mg is equivalent to 40 mg Furosemide
- Oral
- Start: 0.5 to 1 mg orally twice daily
- Maximum: 10 mg/day
- Onset <1 hour
- Half-Life 1.5 hours
- Duration: 4-6 hours
- Intravenous or Intramuscular
- Start: 1 mg IV/dose over 1 to 2 minutes
- May repeat 0.5 to 1 mg IV every 2 to 3 hours as needed
- Maximum: 4-8 mg/dose
- Onset: Within minutes if IV (within 40 minutes if IM)
- Duration: 3 to 6 hours
- Intravenous Infusion
- Load: 1 mg IV
- Rate: 0.5 to 2 mg/hour IV
