II. Findings: Osteoarthritis

  1. Low back Osteoarthritis common in the elderly
  2. Lumbar Radiculopathy due to spine degeneration (osteophytes or bone spurs) typically follows a fixed or progressive course
    1. Contrast with Lumbar Disc Herniation which tends to improve as the disc Herniation resorbs

III. Findings: Spinal Stenosis

  1. Very common in the elderly
  2. Neurogenic Claudication
    1. Worse with walking
    2. Improved with forward flexion

IV. Findings: Osteoporosis with Vertebral Compression Fracture

  1. Severe, abrupt onset back pain
