Indications
1. Included in Triple Screen
Physiology
1. Normally produced at low levels by ovaries
2. Elevated in pregnancy
  1. Produced by placenta
  2. Precursors supplied by fetus
    1. Fetal adrenal glands
    2. Fetal liver
Increased Unconjugated Estriol
1. Increases throughout normal pregnancy
Decreased Unconjugated Estriol
1. Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome)
2. Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome)
