  1. Anesthesia of Radial Nerve distribution

III. Precautions

  1. Avoid injecting directly into Radial Nerve
  2. Avoid injection into radial artery

IV. Preparation

  1. Needle: 27 gauge 1.5 inch
  2. Anesthetic: Lidocaine 1%: 10 ml

V. Technique

  1. Injection site 1: Inject 3 ml
    1. Inject along lateral border of radial artery
    2. Proximal wrist crease
  2. Injection site 2: Inject 5-7 ml
    1. Reorient needle 90 deg., aiming dorsally across wrist
    2. Proximal border of snuff box toward mid-wrist
  3. Warning: Distal Paresthesias with needle with injection
    1. Indicates needle is at Radial Nerve
    2. Do not inject here!
    3. Remove needle and reposition
