Where the Link Ends
The Link you followed points to a FPNotebook representation of the NIH Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) tree.
What is the NIH UMLS system?
The NIH UMLS ties together related medical concepts from various nomenclatures (e.g. MSH, ICD9, SnoMed). These concepts are also cross-matched to various synonyms in a number of languages.
The unique concepts are represented by CUI codes that begin with 'C', followed by a 7 digit number. These concepts number in exceess of 1.3 Million and are mapped to a tree structure (parent, sibling, and child concepts).
You can learn more about the UMLS system here.
Why access to this version of the UMLS Tree is limited to website subscribers.
Due to the large size of this tree, and the required database resources, access to the tree is limited to website subscribers.
Non-subscribers can still access the main portion of the FPNotebook, much of which includes UMLS related information (e.g. translations, ICD9 concepts, MSH links, parent concepts).
