    1. No supplementation needed in most infants <6 months
      1. Exception is Vitamin D supplement in exclusively Breast fed infants
  3. Management: Specific Vitamins
    1. Vitamin D (needs 400 IU/day per AAP as of 2008)

        2. Indications
          1. Exclusively Breast fed infants
          2. Inadequate sunlight exposure
          3. Northern latitudes
          4. Dark skin
      2. Sunlight exposure
        1. Wearing only a diaper for 30 minutes per week
        2. Fully clothed with no hat for two hours per week
    2. Vitamin K
      1. Prevents Hemorrhagic disease of the newborn
      2. Single 0.5 to 1 mg IM at birth
    3. Iron
      1. Iron-fortified foods needed by 6 months of age
    4. Vitamin B12
      1. Supplementation if strictly vegetarian mother
      2. Supplement: 0.3 to 0.5 mcg/day
    5. Fluoride Supplementation
      1. See indications for older than 6 month infant
