Quadriceps Femoris Muscle AngleAka: Q Angle of the Knee
- Method
- Position patient in slight knee flexion (15 degrees)
- Measure angle between 2 lines
- Line 1: Anterior Superior Iliac to patella center
- Line 2: Tibial Tubercle to patella center
- Normal Measurement
- Men: 11 to 17 degrees
- Women: 14 to 20 degrees (due to gynecoid pelvis)
- Causes of increased Q angle
- Knock-Kneed (Genu Valgum)
- Excessive Femoral Anteversion
- Medial Tibial Torsion
- Laterally positioned tibial tuberosity
- Tight lateral retinaculum
- Weakness of vastus medialis oblique
