Patellar Tilt Test

Indications
1. Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
Mechanism
1. Tests for lateral knee structure tightness
Technique
1. Patient lies supine
2. Patella grasped between thumb and forefinger
3. Tilt patella
  1. Medial patella compressed posteriorly
  2. Lateral patella lifted
Interpretation: Abnormal
1. Lateral patella cannot be raised to horizontal
2. Suggests tight lateral knee structures
  1. Patellofemoral Syndrome
  2. Patellofemoral Osteoarthritis
