Fetal Scalp StimulationAka: Scalp Stimulation Test, Fetal Acoustic Stimulation

Indications
1. Assess degree of Fetal Hypoxia
Technique
1. Stimulate infant with one of two techniques
  1. Fetal Scalp Stimulation
  2. Fetal Acoustic Stimulation
2. Observe Fetal Heart Rate response to stimulation
Interpretation: Positive Scalp stimulation response
1. Fetal Heart Rate increases 15 beats for 15 seconds
2. Positive Response implies no acidosis (pH > 7.20)
