Indications
1. Evaluation for Premature Rupture of Membranes
Technique
1. Patient lies semi-recumbent for 45 minutes
2. Consider elevating buttocks on cushioned pan
3. Perform speculum exam after pooling for 45 minutes
Interpretation
1. Pooling of fluid suggests Rupture of Membranes
2. If no fluid seen
  1. Apply gentle fundal pressure or have patient cough
  2. Fluid may be seen passing from cervical os
