Simple Ovarian Cyst

Radiology: Ultrasound Findings
1. Anechoic, thin walled cyst
2. Protocol: Based on cyst size and Menses status
  1. Postmenopausal cysts
    1. Excision recommended if size >5 cm
    2. Cyst can be monitored if <5 cm
      1. Schedule repeat ultrasound
      2. Follow CA 125 levels
      3. Nardo (2003) Obstet Gynecol 102:589
  2. Premenopausal cysts
    1. Simple cyst size <25 mm
      1. Normal follicle
    2. Simple cyst size >25 mm
      1. Follicular Cyst
      2. Corpus Luteal Cyst
