Measurement
1. Measures responsiveness of pituitary to TRH
Protocol
1. Administer TRH 500 ug
2. Measure Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) at 30-60 min
Interpretation of TSH
1. Normal Response
  1. TSH rises 2-4x baseline
2. Hyperthyroidism
  1. Low TSH with suppressed response to TRH
3. Hypothyroidism
  1. High TSH with exaggerated TRH response
