II. Indications

  1. Precocious Puberty (suspect pathologic central cause)
  2. Delayed Puberty (suspect hormonal cause)

III. Technique

  1. Patient fasts overnight
  2. Administer 100 ug GnRH IV or SC
  3. Obtain Serum Gonadotropin Levels
    1. Labs
      1. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
      2. Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
    2. Timing
      1. Baseline prior to GnRH administration
      2. After injection at 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes

IV. Interpretation

  1. Central Precocious Puberty
    1. Two fold or higher increase in FSH and LH
