  1. Rapid assessment of airway, breathing and circulatory status in the conscious patient

III. Approach

  1. Provider introduces themself to the patient
  2. Patient questions
    1. What is your name?
    2. What happened?

IV. Interpretation

  1. Ability to respond appropriately to above questions without distress suggests intact ABCD
  2. Failure in any response
    1. Urgent and complete evaluation
    2. ABC Management (or Primary Survey in Trauma)
