- Children/Adults: Nonrebreather mask with reservoir
- Conscious with respiratory failure
- Bag Valve Mask with 100% Oxygen
- Ventilation rate
- Adult: 12 breaths per minute
- Child: 15 breaths per minute
- Infant: 20 breaths per minute
- Consider Hyperventilating
- Corrects acidosis and lowers Intracranial Pressure
- Maintain:
- PaCO2 22-29 or
- Respiratory Rate twice normal
- Unresponsive or respiratory failure
- Orotracheal intubation
- Trauma Pitfalls
- Tension Pneumothorax
- Rib Fractures
- High risk injury if Fractured ribs 1 through 3
- Associated with significant cardiopulmonary injury
- Flail chest
- Pulmonary Contusion
- Open Pneumothorax
- Massive hemothorax
