- Pathophysiology
- Severe clinical variant of Erythema Multiforme
- Previously thought to be part of same spectrum as minor
- Now thought to be clinically distinct
- Symptoms
- Prodrome
- Fever
- Malaise
- Prostration
- Sudden widespread skin eruption
- Signs
- Target lesions (See Erythema Multiforme)
- Widespread skin involvement
- Mucosal bullae (severe in 20% of cases)
- Oral Mucosa may lead to inadequate oral intake
- Respiratory may lead to respiratory distress
- Conjunctiva may lead to ocular complications
- Associated Conditions
- Toxic epidermal necrolysis
- Complications
- Secondary infection
- Prognosis
- Severe complications: 3-15%
- Mortality
- Respiratory failure
