- Prevalence: Occurs in 5% of pregnancies
- Causes
- Poor Oral Hygiene
- Local trauma (e.g. dental fillings or dentures)
- Pregnancy (Epulis Gravidarum, Pregnancy Oral Tumor)
- Symptoms
- Rapidly growing oral lesion
- Signs
- Erythematous Gingival Nodule or lobulated swelling
- May be as large as 1-2 centimeters in size
- Distribution
- Gingiva most commonly
- Less common on lip, Tongue or Buccal mucosa
- Management
- Pregnancy: Observe
- Typically recedes after pregnancy
- Removal may be indicated in excessive bleeding
- Higher recurrence rate if occurs during pregnancy
- Non-pregnanct: Surgical excision
- Low Incidence for recurrence
