  • A few added features are listed below. These are adjuncts to the core topics and represent the authors experiments in how web technology might be leveraged for medical uses.

What's New (as of April 2012)...

  • Content
    • The site now contains over 5700 topics
    • I update the site based on systematic monthly review of articles in primary care (since 1997), and as of 2012, this systematic review includes emergency medicine and pharmacology
    • ACLS, ATLS and Advanced Airway sections have been updated in 2011
    • 2012 Family Medicine Board Review conference information is now included
    • Additional site updates for the first half of 2012 will include Practice of Internal Medicine, and Pediatric Resuscitation.
  • The mobile version of Fpnotebook works on most handhelds
    • Iphone, Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry 6+, Palm WebOs, Kindle... it will work as long as Jquery Mobile works on your device.
    • This new mobile version (fpnotebook.com/mobile) will replace the older iphone version (fpnotebook.com/iphone).
      • Iphone users should let me know about problems with the new version.
    • If you browse to this site on a handheld device you will be automatically redirected to the mobile version.
      • Adding to favorites (iphone/touch) offers the option to save an icon to the home screen of the device.
  • 1200 Anatomy images have been added and categorized for each chapter.
    • Most of the added images are from Gray's Anatomy (public domain edition)
    • A new high quality anatomy model set from Zygote is being used to generate new images for the fpnotebook site
    • Some images can be printed as posters up to 20" x 30" (see example)

  • The majority of site pages now have one or more NIH-UMLS codes assigned
    • Related information for each page is now included: Definitions, synonyms, MSH, Medline, ICD9 and ICD10
    • Language translations for key topics include Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portugese, Japanese, Korean, Czech, Hungarian, as well as others.
  • Medication pricing is now included to help ball-park out-of-pocket drug costs
